What is AAGS?

The Asia Association for Global Studies (AAGS) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that promotes the research and teaching of global studies in Asia.

What is AAGS' mission statement?

AAGS' mission is "to provide an English-language forum for globally-oriented Asia-based academics of diverse nationalities and disciplinary backgrounds to gather together, present their research, exchange ideas, do collaborative projects, and develop regional networks in a spirit of friendship and cooperation."

The association strives to meet its objectives by

• hosting regular meetings, guest lectures, and annual conferences.
• publishing its newsletter the Asia-World Bulletin once yearly
• publishing the Asia Journal of Global Studies, a referred academic journal, twice yearly
• promoting global studies as a research and educational field in Asia
• promoting transnational, cross-cultural collaborative research projects in Asia
• encouraging international faculty and student exchanges among Asian universities
